CarProg vs Xprog-m vs UPA USB vs FGTech v54

Here is a helpful text for an electronic technician having doubt about tools of airbag ECU repair work, as he said below,
“I’m electronic technician and am starting repairs airbag ECUs.
My doubt is: CARPROG or XPROG or other or both?
What differences?
What i need more?
Carprog can help me at all UPA or Fgtech should i need?”

Carprog reset airbag via K-Line
I would say both, carprog and xprog-m . Carprog v9.31 can do many types of airbag by K-line, so no need to open ecu, reads/clears DTC and crash data by Kline and by reading dumps as well, load them in its own software and clear them, then write back to eeprom, mcu…all in one go…
You can buy UPA USB as well, very good programmer.
You can’t cover all eeproms and MCU’s with one or two programmers…

Genuine CarProg vs Clone CarProg
The clone version works great on pretty much anything (airbag reset is definitely yes) up to about 2008-2010 but it does not support the MAC and XC chips found in some of the late model vehicles.
So clone Carprog would be a reasonable choice… learn with it, make a few $$ from it and upgrade to the original tool with the full software package and adapters. They now even have the option to ‘Legalize’ the clones to be fully updateable and work with the new chips and software that requires an internet connection for about $1500.

UPA vs Xprog vs FGtech v54 vs Carprog
UPA & Xprog m are just programmers can read MCU and EEPORMS, very different from Carprog
FGTECH v54 – its a BDM programmer for ECU and OBD2
CARPROG – programmer + many calculators, immo airbag key …. car radio, nav… read EEPROMS, some dashes are working and couple AIRBAG MCU. You can read opel pin code from ecus. with 4.74 can do couple Keys.
If car is not very new you can read all memories with tools above.

In my opinion and when i started, i buy 2014 UPA USB first for everything eprom and mcu related, very good tool and affordable also the script capability is a wonderful thing and really gives speed to your work. After Fgtech galletto v54 for ecu bdm, jtag, boot mode etc… For other specific jobs then think ETL Xprog Carprog etc… This is my opinion its value its up to you to decide.

Anyway, you must look for what you want or what you need a good programmer to read all cpu and eeprom, or you want a programmer ( can read all eeprom but can’t read all cpu motorola ) with some calculations !!

Carprog v9.31 read and erase BMW EEPROM M35080

Free download Carprog full v9.31 software shared by a forum member and tested on BMW EEPROM M35080.. No issues.
Carprog 9.31v software i used on Windows XP operating system:




And China Carprog clone device used together with:





direct connection to EEPROM. m35080 chip is used for most BMW cars.







Then i used it to read M35080 and fast erase M35080 (about 10 seconds) EEPROM in circuit with auto-detection






Other EEPROMs are being on the test. Test results will be reported here. And you may be risky to try…

How to install PSA diangostic software DiagBox 8.01

Installing DiagBox 8.01
This procedure and the software provided are intended for personal, educational and experimental use to install DiagBox 8.01 and related updates. I hold no responsibility for any illegal or improper usage. Carry out this procedure at your own risk.   Best Hardware with this software LEXIA 3 921815C XS Evolution
Notice
- Links for all required software, updates and tools are in the attachments.
Preparation for Installing DiagBox 8.01 on Notebooks and VMWare Workstation
- Starting with any (32 bit) Windows (preferably XP or 7), install .NET 3.51 and Windows drivers or VMWare Tools (if on VMWare Workstation or Player).
Preparation for Installing DiagBox 8.01 on VirtualBox
- Having installed 32 bit Windows + VirtualBox Guest Additions + .NET 3.51, use the Powershell Command "Get-WMIObject win32_BIOS" or the "DMIdecode" tool to obtain BIOS information (not essential).
- Close VirtualBox and start an administrator's CMD, navigate to "C:\Program Files\Oracle\VirtualBox\" and execute the following command (Replacing "Your VM" with your Virtual Machine's name, and System Serial with your hardware's or any code or text such as "CDN29326BH"):
C:\Program Files\Oracle\VirtualBox>VBoxManage setextradata "Your VM" "VBoxInternal/Devices/pcbios/0/Config/DmiSystemSerial" "System Serial"
Installing DiagBox 8.01
1- Install DiagBox 7.01 and restart DiagBox to run update 7.02. Install update 7.xx-7.57 (this will create "C:\AWRoot\dtwr\cfg\Config.sys").
2- Install "VC++ 2008 Redistributable Package", a copy will be available in "C:\teleassistance\visualC\vcredist_x86.exe" after installing DiagBox.
3- Restart the computer and use “Kill_DiagBox_Tasks.bat” to stop related processes and rename "C:\AWRoot" to "C:\AWRoot7"
4- Run DiagBox 8.01 installation (it will uninstall v7.xx first) until it requests Activation. Close it (X) and run the tool "AWRoot_v7_Conf+Ativation_v8.exe" it will copy configuration from "C:\AWRoot7\.." and inject the necessary files.
5- Run DiagBox again, it should continue the installation successfully.
Done !,
Restart DiagBox 8.01 as Administrator to confirm all is well (don't be concerned about the reported version and do not start Lexia or PP2000 yet). If you face an issue, run the activation tool again and/or review "Versions" below.
If DiagBox runs fine, ensure you keep a backup copy of the file “C:\AWRoot\bin\fi\APPDIAG.SYS” in a safe location.
Installing Updates
1- Download and install "DiagBox_updt_802.ISO" update.
2- Download and install subsequent v8.xx updates or Maitresox updates (from 7.66+).
Versions
DiagBox will run and display the (8.xx or 7.xx) version number listed in “AWRoot\bin\fi\version.ini” file. However, Lexia or PP2000 will fail to operate with "version.ini" set to “08.xx” and "APPDIAG.SYS" will be corrupted and will need to be restored before DiagBox will work again.
So, for DiagBox, Lexia and PP2000 to operate, set the version to “7.xx” or “7.xxx” (07.81 or 07.817 can be set to indicate the true DiagBox 8 version).

It is possible to operate Lexia/PP2000 (after starting DiagBox with 8.xx) by starting DiagBox while having "version.ini" listing the 8.xx only (or first), then changing it to 7.xx or commenting the line "version=08.xx" and saving BEFORE starting LEXIA or PP2000 as shown below.

Updates
- DiagBox v7 and v8 install and run on all x86 (32bit) Windows including 10 TH1, TH2, RS1 and RS2.
- Entering a System Serial for the Virtual Machine (as described above) resolves the "psaAagent.exe" and the missing tabs issue on VirtualBox.
- If you get "Error 2" after restarting DiagBox, try commenting "version=8.xx" in "version.ini" before restarting DiagBox again.
P.S. DiagBox has been running on Firmware 4.3.4 since 7.66/8.02.
Someone put the full installation process on the net, just edit "version.ini" as described above.

MB SD C4 W164 Front SAM Offline Programming issue fxied

One of customers sent an email to Xcar360.com customer to report he has a question that no option to program the SAM using offline programming with MB SD Connect C4 multiplexer and Xentry 12/2015 fail to do. Here is the proper solution provided by our technician.

Customer tested Mercedes model and MB star diagnostic version：
2005 ML350 4Matic
MB SD C4+ Dell D630 laptop+ 2015.12V DAS/Xentry

Problems Description:
Problem one: Problem with the front SAM, when select Yes the next screen goes to online programming. There is no option to program the SAM using offline programming. At least I couldn’t find it. The starter doesn’t even crank.
Problem two: Secondary problem is the ISM. The original module generated a message on display: “Drive to workshop without changing gear”. The transmission now is stuck in Park. I installed another identical module from another ML350 and the message is gone but there is no reaction when changing the shifter from park to other positions. I get a message to depress the brake even when the brake pedal is depressed.
Also, when I go to the Developer option I get the message the file is missing, see photo. So, I have two serious problems to deal with. I’m looking forward to your feedback.









Xcar360.com Engineers reply and solution way：
Please can not use ISM from other car,..use brand new,..marry it to the vehicle and you will probably start the engine.
Then program front sam online,..or if you don’t have online access,..pass this step,..it has program inside it generally.///code it manually according your car,..and if still has SAM errors,..probably could change it with new one!
Neither ISM neither SAM need online or offline,..they always can be initially startup manually with DAS
As for the question “I don’t know why when I accessed the front SAM with DAS it gave me a message saying that the SAM needs to be programmed. See the attached photos. It is not my imagination. This is what I got when trying to read the fault codes from the front SAM.”
I guess: probably your sam is almost dead.//put other one used..or new one
