BMW ICOM ISTA software Win7 Windows Error Recovery

Here is the proper solution to the BMW ICOM A2+B+C ISTA-D ISTA-P Windows Error Recovery error by xcar360.com engineer.
Problem:
one of BMW ICOM A2 wifi user has got the 2015.08V ISTA-D:3.50.10 ISTA-P: 3.56.002 hard drive,when he insert the hard drive to Win 7 laptop, the windows display error (error screen taken below) and then shut down.

Windows failed to start.A recent hardware or software change might be the cause.To fix the problem:…”






Solution:
1. Set the computer/laptop to achi mode.
2.Make sure the computer time is the same as your local time.
3.Ensure your PC has 4G Inter space. Dell D630 4GB laptop works great.

Note: If the BMW ICOM HDD works,but the ISTA-P display error message”The screen resolution is insufficient to run this application”. All you need to do is to re-start the computer. Everything is OK.

Foxwell NT510 Tested on BMW, What Worked

Original Foxwell NT510 is the new advanced diagnostic tool among BMW scanners. Below are some users’ opinions and full BMW model lists that can be compatible with NT510 multi-system scanner.
How do users think of NT510 scan tool on BMWSo far, I have had good success with BMW. all BMW’s supported auto vin & autoscan, was able to get a quick easy accurate report of issues.

2010?BMW e88:
it support reprogramming of injector values and Engine idol speeds and it can be used on it,so far ,everything is OK,

2008 BMW E93:
register a new battery- SUCCESS

2006 BMW X3:able to find 2 misfires because of bad plugs.

2009 BMW z4:able to diagnose and find bad HAL sensors stopping the roof from retracting

2009 bmw 335i (American):
Managed to do battery registration

BMW X5 E53:
Used NT510 scanner to get all of the air out of ABS block–> OK

X5 E53 4.6is (2003)
540iT (1999):
I bit the bullet and ordered one also along with a Bentley manual. I’ve got 3 BMWs E39 M5(2003), X5 E53 4.6is (2003), and 540iT (1999). Because it has specific BMW codes it seams worth the investment and well beyond a peak code reader.

CarProg vs Xprog-m vs UPA USB vs FGTech v54

Here is a helpful text for an electronic technician having doubt about tools of airbag ECU repair work, as he said below,
“I’m electronic technician and am starting repairs airbag ECUs.
My doubt is: CARPROG or XPROG or other  or both?
What differences?
What i need more?
Carprog can help me at all? UPA or Fgtech should i need?”

Carprog reset airbag via K-Line
I would say both, carprog and xprog-m . Carprog v9.31 can do many types of airbag by K-line, so no need to open ecu, reads/clears DTC and crash data by Kline and by reading dumps as well, load them in its own software and clear them, then write back to eeprom, mcu…all in one go…
You can buy UPA USB as well, very good programmer.
You can’t cover all eeproms and MCU’s with one or two programmers…

Genuine CarProg vs Clone CarProg
The clone version works great on pretty much anything (airbag reset is definitely yes) up to about 2008-2010 but it does not support the MAC and XC chips found in some of the late model vehicles.
So clone Carprog would be a reasonable choice… learn with it, make a few $$ from it and upgrade to the original tool with the full software package and adapters. They now even have the option to ‘Legalize’ the clones to be fully updateable and work with the new chips and software that requires an internet connection for about $1500.

UPA & Xprog m are just programmers can read MCU and EEPORMS, very different from Carprog
FGTECH v54 – its a BDM programmer for ECU and OBD2
CARPROG – programmer + many calculators, immo airbag key …. car radio, nav… read EEPROMS, some dashes are working and couple AIRBAG MCU. You can read opel pin code from ecus. with 4.74 can do couple Keys.
If car is not very new you can read all memories with tools above.

In my opinion and when i started, i buy 2014 UPA USB first for everything eprom and mcu related, very good tool and affordable also the script capability is a wonderful thing and really gives speed to your work. After Fgtech galletto v54 for ecu bdm, jtag, boot mode etc… For other specific jobs then think ETL Xprog Carprog etc… This is my opinion its value its up to you to decide.

Anyway, you must look for what you want or what you need a good programmer to read all cpu and eeprom, or you want a programmer ( can read all eeprom but can’t read all cpu motorola ) with some calculations !!

how to Activate BMW auto detection by INPA Ediabas

Here is the instruction on how to enable BMW auto detection with INPA/Ediabas interface.
Tools: The Chinese INPA Ediabas interface (OBDII compatible, bought mine from Chinese seller xcar360.com.)




How to:

I will auto-detect MY >2000-2001 via the OBD interface but not older models via the 20-pin/OBD adapter because the ignition signal is not detected by the 20-pin connector. The OBD side of the interface does have a connection to pin #1 (ignition, terminal 15) – see the small yellow “1” toward the top right of the PCB:






It is marked by the yellow arrow






But it is not passed through the OBD to 20-pin adapter. The adapter cable only has 4 conductors, only 3 of which are functional. So we have to do some soldering.







One connects OBD #16(battery, terminal 30) to 20-pin #14, the second connects OBD #4/5 (ground) to 20-pin #19, and the third connects OBD #7/8 (TDX1/TDX2) to 20-pin #17/20. (The 4th green conductor is soldered to 20-pin #15 but has no connection to the BMW INPA K+DCAN cable.)






I opened the shells of the 20-pin connector and the interface and soldered an external jumper (the red wire below) between pin#16 of the 20-pin connector and #1 of the INPA/Ediabas interface.





And voila, auto-detection in DIS:






Yellow “1” is on pin #16. Pin #1, where the jumper is to be soldered to, is on on top of picture on opposite side on the board.

Done.

I have received the tiny USB shaped Vpecker obd2 wifi scanner from xcar360.com and tested the scan tool for a while.
The first thing was to download software from official website. Opening the website www.tdintel.com and download “Vpecker setup V8.6”. Software installation is easy within simple steps. Registration takes some steps, better follow their pdf guide (How to install and register Vpecker easydiag wifi), register with SN/password to download software, two mode optional, one by one click , or one-click.
It may take a long time to download all the software due to your network speed reason.

The genuine Windows XP-10 operating systems allows for more stable performances, better compatibility and expandability, extremely easy-to-use with touch-screen operation.  Smooth touch screen performance.






Multi language are able to be selected.  It has Demo, so even VPECKER easydiag scanner is not connected, it can simulate how VPECKER works.

Unit switch between Metric and Imperial system
Display modes between Full Screen and Fixed Size (2014×700)
Logging function is available; it can log the date of vehicle communication
If there is a new version, it can automatically prompt to update

Plug vpecker into vehicle, then make communication between vpecker with laptop via WIFI. There is no need to enter password to connect wifi, just choose the vpecker easydiag wifi signal directly, the read light will turn to blue when finish the connection. Automatically identify vpecker and pecker version information when connection has wifi

How to use VVDI BGA MB Tool Renew EIS on Benz W172 204 207

This is an instruction on how to read and renew EIS of Mercedes (W172, 204, 207), with Xhorse VVDI Benz VVDI MB TOOL V2.0.4.
Tools used:
PC

VVDI MB TOOL 2.0.3 free download: (this is the latest software available in the market)
Read Renew EIS procedure with Mercedes key programmer:
Connect vvdi mb tool to PC.
Click Read EIS data.






Reading data success.







Tick on Allow user.
Enter Key Password.
Click Get button.






Searching erase password…
Find erase password success.




Go to Mode: IR.
Click Renew EIS.






Prompt at the bottom: Erasing EIS…Success.
Click Read EIS data.





No VIN. No Activated. No Used key.





Done.

Other successful bga key tested with vvdi mb tool:
Add BGA key of W166, 197, 212, 218, 246….OK
Change EIS on W172, 204, 207….OK
Calculate EIS 221 password….OK
All key lost on W172, 204, 207….OK
Renew ELV on W204, 207, 212….OK
Renew EIS on W172 204 207….OK
